Metabolism Magic

I couldn’t ride around the block much less across the country. After flying a desk for thirty years, always with the best intentions to work out every day, I was 60 pounds overweight; sixty pounds in the way of my dream and making my life miserable. My dream is riding a bicycle from Durham to the Santa Monica Pier to raise awareness about cancer and cancer research. I was miserable, but I knew where to turn.

My sister, Caroline Smith Ph.D. could help make Martin’s Ride a reality. Nice to have an “in-house” exercise physiologist, I put in a call. Caroline used sophisticated technology to discover just how out of balance my system had become. My “on the run” lifestyle, long workweeks, poor food choices, lousy hydration and scant exercise created a sixty pound dream killer.

One thing I love about my sister is no one is ever too far gone (lol). She creates a new you one step at a time. Her confidence is catching, the end result is assured. The Heath Brothers, in their new book Switch: How to change when change is hard, describe creating emotional appeal and scripting a new future. Clear, specific instructions help our rational riders direct our emotional elephants. Caroline excels at creating complete healthy scripts.

Emotional appeal comes with my desire to achieve a life long dream, but I needed to know what to do, how to drop the weight. Caroline provided instructions for how to balance metabolism. She helped me understand a maze of supplements. She prescribed a regime that was easy to follow and producing results. I’ve lost fifteen pounds and am well on my way to losing sixty needed to comfortably sit on a bicycle for four or five hours riding fifty and sixty miles each day until the California coast and Pacific ocean is the last stop on Martin’s Ride.

I can’t live the life I want to live going the way I was going. I can’t live my dream. Recommending family can be tricky. My sister related to me more as a Metabolism Magic client than her brother. I had to do the same. Caroline is my little sister after all (lol). My brother Drew and I were talking about Martin’s Ride. “You probably saved your life,” Drew said about stopping the bad habits that were too dear. No, my sister Caroline and Metabolism Magic saved my life and my dream.
